Abstract

The fundamental role in creating policy towards the Polish Diaspora was performed by the Foreign Department of the Central Committee of Polish United Workers’ Party. The Consular Department of the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs initiated the executive function by which it had direct control over the Association Linking the Polish Diaspora “Polonia”. It came into existence on 17th May 1955 and its essential aim was to grant approval of the policy towards The Polish Diaspora. From the very beginning it was supervised by the Public Safety Department. Professor Stanisław Kulczyński, who was the Seym speaker, became the first President of the Association. “Polonia” Association reached large numbers of the Polish Diaspora thanks to its cultural and educational activities. During the process the editorial activity became the most important. The Polish Diaspora Education was also trying to reach the largest possible group of teenagers. Step by step the modern visual forms were introduced Hence, film productions, radio broadcasts and exhibitions were presented. This way the picture of Poland of that time was created.
