The main goal of the article is to present the harmonization of the Polish Act of Consumer Rights of 30 May 2014with EU law – Directive of the European Parliament and the Council 2011/83/EU. In accordance with Article 26/6 TFEU the harmonization of certain aspects of consumer distance and off-premises contracts is necessary for the promotion of a real consumer internal market. The article reports the results of author’s own research connected with the perception by consumers how their rights are protect by the traders. The results of the research show that the consumers present a good level knowledge of consumer distance and off-premises contracts, but their knowledge especially about the possibility to withdraw from a distance or off-premises contract and the trader’s complaint handling policy is low.
